Fitzgerald, Moody, Stover boost Speake over Hatton

Speake High's boys basketball team got a 79-44 win over Hatton on Monday night with more than one hero on the Bobcats' roster.

Speake junior Juarez Fitzgerald topped the game's scorers with 25 points. He also passed out eight assists and had three steals.

Jacob Moody added 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Bobcats (3-1), while Javarous Stover contributed 17 points and 13 rebounds.

For Hatton, Landon Campbell had 18 points, and Darrin Hand added 16.

Tanner 79, Athens Bible 45: A balanced scoring attack paced the Rattlers (7-1) as 11 different players scored at least a point.

Demarcus King and Shaun Kuntz led the way with 12 points each, while Latraius Moseley and Rod Byrd each added 10. Clay McMeans contributed eight points and nine rebounds.

Ryan Morring had 22 points for Athens Bible, and Jeremy Covey pitched in 10.


Hatton 79, Speake 56: Paige Rutherford helped pace a Hatton victory with 14 points, 19 rebounds and seven steals.

Kaitlyn Fleming had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Hornets (3-4), and Brandi Reed contributed 12 points. Grace Harrison pitched in 11 points.

For Speake, Kylie Black turned in a big night with 26 points, 19 rebounds and 10 blocked shots.

Covenant Christian 54, Mount Hope 33: Laura Rutherford led the Lady Yellow Jackets (2-4) in a home loss with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Haley Flannagan had nine steals.

For Covenant Christian, Emilee Hellums scored 16 points.
