Fisher, 41, a former Auburn and Samford assistant coach, is expected to meet with UAB officials on Thursday, The Birmingham News reported Wednesday.

UAB is seeking a replacement for Watson Brown, who left to lead the Tennessee Tech program after 12 seasons.

More than 1,000 people packed into the east side school’s gymnasium for the nearly two-hour ceremony Wednesday
