King crowns a winner for Lawrence County boys

Myles King produced 31 points and nine rebounds as Lawrence County High's boys basketball team edged Speake 87-81.

Matthew Pugh added 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Durman Cunningham contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds. Will Inman had 11 points and four assists.

Madison Academy 65, Brewer 56: Rusty Boyd had 14 points and Chris Humphries added 10, but it wasn't enough for Brewer (4-7).

For Madison Academy, Kerron Johnson had 15 points.

Clements 60, East Limestone 51: Blake Moore paced the Clements win with 14 points and 19 rebounds.

Sean Bachelor had 13 points, and Cody Arnold contributed 12 points and five assists. Seth Bachelor had 11 points, and O'Neal Vance had 10.

For East Limestone, LaCorey McDonald scored 12 points, and Mario Matthews pitched in 10.

Hatton 68, Colbert Heights 58: Darren Hand poured in 33 points, and Chase Martin added 16 as Hatton picked up its second win of the season.

R.A. Hubbard 55, Colbert County 54: Devans Orr had 17 points and 10 rebounds for R.A. Hubbard, while Quinn McGhee added 14 points.

Girls

R.A. Hubbard 64, Colbert County 34: Monique Hampton had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Chiefs, while Dezsarae Ricks added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Berneshia Harris contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Chasity Puryear had 11 points and six steals.

Hazlewood 71, Tharptown 38: Amber Jones poured in 22 points to pace Hazlewood in a home victory.

Jasmine Patton added 18 points, and Naughtia Langham had 13.

The Lady Golden Bears led 24-5 after one quarter before cruising to the victory.

Lawrence County 60, Speake 40: Nakia McDaniel had 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the way for the Lady Red Devils, while Jasma McDonald had 11 points and six steals.

Sallie Burch passed out eight assists.

For Speake, Malea Hensley had 19 points.

Hatton 52, Colbert Heights 23: Breanna Culver had 12 points to pace Hatton, which got at least a point from 10 different players. Paige Rutherford added 10 points.

Chloe Malone had 10 rebounds, and Emily Shelton passed out four assists.
