Powell helps pace win for West Morgan
Lawrence Co. rolls again; Tanner slams Falkville

Phillip Powell scored 24 points and posted 16 rebounds as West Morgan High's boys basketball team beat East Lawrence 73-63 on Friday night.

Micah Randolph added 10 points and had eight rebounds for the Rebels (7-2). Also for West Morgan, Blake Gholston had 13 points and Grant Harbin had 12.

East Lawrence had three players in double figures, led by Russ Stephenson's 16 points. Jared Grimes and Dakota Matthews added 14 points each.

Good Hope 57, Danville 55: A halftime deficit of 10 points proved too much for Danville High's boys to overcome as the Hawks fell to Good Hope.

Zack Orr did his part, scoring 28 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for Danville (1-8), which also got 13 points, 10 rebounds and three assists from Roger Smith.

Alex Richter led Good Hope (8-2) with 14 points.

The Hawks host Hanceville on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Lawrence County 54, Fairview 35: Fairview held Myles King to fewer than 20 points, but it wasn't enough as King again led Lawrence County to the win. He scored 16 points, grabbing five rebounds and recording three assists. Cody Harville contributed 15 rebounds in the win.

Lawrence County (10-3) handed Fairview its second loss of the season.

Speake 76, Addison 36: Jacob Moody's 17 points, 11 rebounds and three assists paced Speake (5-2). Eight other Bobcats helped, led by K.C. Orr's 16 points, Javaris Stover's 11 points and nine rebounds, and Chase Atkins' 10 points.

Jordan Alston led Addison with 10 points.

R.A. Hubbard 91, Tharptown 36: The Chiefs had 10 players score in a game in which they led 48-15 at halftime. Quinn McGee led the way, scoring 14 points and recording 10 rebounds, Darius Grant added 16 points, Xavier Hampton scored 13 points and LaBrandon Key had 11.

Tanner 90, Falkville 54: Demarcus King was 6-of-6 from the floor, including four 3-pointers, and scored 19 points to lead Tanner (8-2). The Rattlers won by shooting 59 percent on the night.

Also for Tanner, Rod Byrd scored 14 points, Latraius Mosley had 13, and Clay McMeans added seven points and 10 rebounds.

Falkville fell despite getting 22 points and eight rebounds from Heath Alford and 14 points from Joseph Lacy.

Decatur Heritage 60, East Limestone 36: Class 1A Decatur Heritage cruised past 4A East Limestone behind Nik Butz's 11 points and four rebounds. He had help from Drew Holmes and De'el Watkins, who each scored 10 points.

Mario Matthews and Courtney Walton led East Limestone with eight points apiece.

Clements 79, West Limestone 70, OT: West Limestone made up a seven-point halftime deficit to push this one into overtime, but it wasn't enough as Clements (5-6) picked up the win behind Cody Arnold and Blake Moore's double-double. Moore scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Arnold had 31 points.

For West Limestone, Zane Campbell had 24 points, Travis Jackson 13, and Jordan Oles and Darius Smith each had 10.

Cornerstone Christian 51, Glen Iris Christian 32: Matt Pettitte scored 18 points and Jason Clark added 16 for Cornerstone (9-1).

John Hollis led Glen Iris Christian with 14 points.

Ardmore 65, Elkmont 40: Matthew Clem led Ardmore with 16 points while Landon Curtis had 15 for the Tigers (7-4).

For Elkmont, Tom Logan had 15 points.


Mount Hope 52, Meek 45: Mount Hope outscored Meek 31-16 in the second half to improve to 4-4. Tamara Robinson led the Lady Yellow Jackets with 17 points and Laura Rutherfordhad 14.

Ashton Carter led Meek (7-5) with 20 points.

East Lawrence 53, West Morgan 42: LaKendra Wright led all scorers with 20 points and added eight rebounds in leading East Lawrence (5-3) to the win. Paige Hood scored 18 for the Lady Eagles.

Mikala Etheridge's 10 points led West Morgan.

Lexington 66, Hatton 45: Four of Lexington's five players who scored finished in double figures as Hatton fell to 6-4.

As for Hatton, Paige Rutherford led with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Kaitlyn Tidwell's 23 points led Lexington.

Addison 51, Speake 34: Jessy Willingham's 27 points and 11 rebounds helped Addison to the win. The Lady Bulldogs also had Kayla Carden score 10 points.

For Speake, Kylie Black scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

East Limestone 56, Decatur Heritage 39: Danielle Jefferson's 22 points and five rebounds helped East Limestone (8-2) pick up the win.

Ebony McCrary scored 13 points and pulled down 10 boards for the Lady Indians, which also had Emily Bracken score 12 points and record 17 rebounds.

Candace Lee's 18 points led Decatur Heritage. Lou Ellen Thompson added 11.

R.A. Hubbard 51, Tharptown 36: The Chiefs evened their record to 3-3 behind Sacashla Hampton's 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Berneshia Harris' 11 points and seven rebounds.

Chasity Puryear added 12 points.

Danville 37, Good Hope 33: The Lady Hawks held onto a 2-point halftime lead, improving to 8-4. Lauren Simmons led Danville with 14 points and nine rebounds. Heather Buchanan led Good Hope (7-4) with 12 points.

Lawrence County 60, Fairview 32: Nakia McDaniel had six steals along with 15 points to lead Lawrence County (12-1). Shea Mason contributed 11 points and eight rebounds and Martiea McDonald grabbed 10 rebounds.
