Fitzgerald leads Danville
Hubbard's girls, boys sweep East Lawrence

Danville High's Alaina Fitzgerald nailed a 3-pointer with 17 seconds left to break a tie and lift the Lady Hawks to a 56-53 win over Hanceville.

Fitzgerald also hit a 3-pointer earlier in the period to tie it at 48. She finished with 17 points and made 5 of 7 from behind the 3-point arc.

Bethany Evans also had 17 points as Danville (9-4) won for the sixth time in seven games. The Lady Hawks also are 4-1 in Class 3A, Area 11 and can clinch at least a tie for the championship with a win Jan. 9 against Vinemont.

Lauren Simmons added 12 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots for Danville.

For Hanceville, LaSheena Nation had 19 points.

Mount Hope 60, Vina 47: Tamara Robinson had 28 points and seven steals for Mount Hope (5-4), which led 26-24 at intermission before taking off in the second half.

Laura Rutherford added 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Anna Roberson had 12 points.

R.A. Hubbard 67, East Lawrence 55: Dezsarae Ricks had 22 points and 18 rebounds to pace R.A. Hubbard, while Sachasla Hampton added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Chasity Puryear contributed 11 points, five assists and seven steals, and Travia Ashford had nine points. Whitney Ashford added eight points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Clements 38, Decatur Heritage 29: Jessica Petty had 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead Clements in its home win. Jordan Beggs added 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Lauren Belew pulled down 10 rebounds to go with her six points.

For Decatur Heritage, Candace Lee turned in a sterling game with 20 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of steals.

Red Bay 70, Speake 33: Kylie Black scored 14 points as Speake (1-7) fell to area power Red Bay.

Morgan Duncan's 16 points paced Red Bay.

Boys

Ardmore 63, West Morgan 62, 3OT: James Van Teeples hit a layup with two seconds to play to lift Ardmore in the third overtime.

Van Teeples scored 12 points for Ardmore (9-4), while Duron Robinson added 21.

For West Morgan, Micah Randolph scored 27 points, and Phillip Powell scored 17.

Brewer 73, Cullman 41: The Patriots bounced back from a Friday loss to rival Priceville for an important 5A, Area 13 win over Cullman.

Rusty Boyd had 28 points for Brewer (5-8, 2-1 in the area), and Chris Humphries added 12.

The Patriots will play next in the Big Blue Classic, which they will host Dec. 27-29.

Decatur Heritage 54, Clements 49: Luke Adams led a Decatur Heritage road win with 14 points and nine rebounds — both were team highs.

Daniel Long added nine points and four rebounds, while Nik Butz had eight points and seven rebounds.

De'el Watkins had eight points, four assists and four steals.

For Clements, Blake Moore had 14 points and 10 rebounds. O'Neal Vance had nine points, and Sean Bachelor contributed eight points, five assists and three steals.

Speake 53, Red Bay 42: Jacob Moody paced the Speake win with 16 points and 12 rebounds. K.C. Orr added 11 points.

Juarez Fitzgerald and Javaris Stover each had 10 points, while Stover pulled down nine rebounds and Fitzgerald passed out four assists. Chase Atkins had five steals.

R.A. Hubbard 72, East Lawrence 66: Quinn McGhee had 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Chiefs, while Finnis Hogan had 15 points and 10 assists.

LeBrandon Key had a pair of blocked shots, four assists and four rebounds.

For East Lawrence, Russ Stephenson had 18 points, and Dakota Matthews contributed 14.

Hanceville 46, Danville 41: The Hawks fell despite getting a solid performance from Zack Orr, who had 24 points and 11 rebounds. Roger Smith added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Russell Standridge had five rebounds, and David Long passed out four assists.

Cornerstone Christian 67, Beth Haven Christian 51: Ben Roberts scored 20 points for Cornerstone (9-1), while Matt Pettit and Brett Stowe each had 16.
