Robinson nets 36 points for Mount Hope

Tamara Robinson tossed in 36 points including 11 of 14 from the free throw line in pacing the Mount Hope Yellow Jackets past Lynn 65-50 on Friday.

Robinson had six steals for the 6-4 visiting Yellow Jackets. Mount Hope improved to 4-1 in Class 1A, Area 15 play.

Helping out were Laura Rutherford for 13 points and seven rebounds and Haley Flannagan with six points and seven boards.

Lynn (4-6) got 13 points from Paige Botcher and 10 from Maggie Finley.

Mount Hope will next play in the Speake Christmas Tournament.

Austin 56, Blackmon, Tenn. 45: China McDaniel led a balanced attack as the Lady Black Bears advanced to the semis of the Huntsville Times tournament at Bob Jones High. McDaniel poured in 14 points and Chasity Stover added nine for Austin (9-4).

Shanise Foster had seven points and seven rebounds and Ardiana Wilkerson and Jazmine Powers each added seven points.

Blackmon got a dozen points from Krisman Robinson and 11 from Tukeea Hicks.

Bob Jones 59, Austin 46: The Lady Black Bears were stopped in the tournament's semifinal round.

Austin (9-5) got 12 points from Powers and 11 from McDaniel.

Nikkia Jordan and Foster each grabbed five rebounds. Austin plays Lincoln County, Tenn., today at 4 p.m. in the consolation round.

Lawrence County 59, Hubbard 49: Lawrence County used a strong second half to defeat Hubbard.

Jasma McDonald had 20 points and Joanna Cain grabbed 10 boards to lead Lawrence County.

Bernisha Harris led the way for Hubbard with 18 points and Sacashla Harris had eight points and 12 rebounds.

Athens Bible 48, Randolph 42: Kirsten McClure had 20 points and 10 rebounds the lead Athens Bible over Randolph.

Christina Ivey chipped in for 14 points the Trojans.

Jenny Robb had 20 points and Anna Worth had 18 for Randolph.

Danville 57, West Morgan 37: Alaina Fitzgerald had 16 points and Lauren Simmons had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks (11-4).

Ashley Thorn went for eight points as West Morgan used nine players overall.

Boys games

Spain Park 71, Austin 55: Verkeneo Mann tossed in 15 and Travis Cohn added 13, but it wasn't nearly enough for the Black Bears in the Sneaky Pete's Tournament at Spain Park in Birmingham.

Terry Cameron led Spain Park with 16 points.

Austin trailed 36-15 at the half and never recovered.

The loss drops Austin to 7-4 on the season. The tournament's defending champions, Austin will play Homewood today at 6:30 p.m. in the third-place contest.

Spain Park advanced to the finals against Jeff Davis of Montgomery.

Lawrence County 81, R.A. Hubbard 79: Myles King had 21 points and seven rebounds as Lawrence County won a thrilling game against R.A. Hubbard on Friday.

Matthew Pugh added in 20 points and Cody Harville had 12 rebounds for the Red Devils.

Quinn McGhee led all scorers with 29 points and 10 rebounds and Finnis Hogan had 16 points.

West Morgan 47, Danville 37: Phillip Powell had 20 points to lead West Morgan over Danville on Friday.

David Pritchard and Chandler Culver each pumped in seven for the Rebels.

Danville only had three players score and were led by Zack Orr with 19.

David Long had 10 points and Roger Smith who chipped in with eight.
