AU’s Prowell scores 19 points in victory

AUBURN (AP) — Quan Prowell scored a game-high 19 points and had eight rebounds to help lead Auburn to a 69-53 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday.

Rasheem Barrett and Josh Dollard each added 10 points for Auburn (10-4). The Buccaneers (5-9) were led by Chris Moore’s 16 points, while Donnell Covington added 11.

Trailing 11-9, the Tigers went on a 15-0 run over a 5:20 span, but Charleston Southern answered with a 10-2 run of their own to make it 26-21 with 3:13 to go in the first.

Auburn led 33-22 at the half and stretched its lead to 50-33 on a 3-pointer by Prowell with 11:34 left to play.

But Charleston Southern worked it back to single digits — 57-48 — on Moore’s 3-pointer at the 5:01 mark. Two late 3-pointers by Prowell gave the Tigers their 69-53 win and the Buccaneers never got any closer than eight.
