Hood paces East Lawrence win

East Lawrence High's Paige Hood had a huge night, boosting the Lady Eagles to a 73-58 win over Hatton.

Hood poured in 34 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and made six steals.

"She killed us," Hatton coach Rheta Harrison said.

Patrice Hill contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

East Lawrence (7-13) led 36-34 at halftime before taking off in the second half.

Grace Harrison's 16 points and nine rebounds topped Hatton (10-7), followed by Emily Shelton with 15 points.

Hazlewood 61, R.A. Hubbard 44: The Lady Golden Bears (13-4) used balanced scoring to pace their winning effort. Nine Hazlewood players scored, led by Lachare Reedus with 13 and Antionetta Howlett's 10.

Bernisha Harris' 18 points and eight rebounds led R.A. Hubbard (7-9), while Deszarae Ricks added 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Lawrence County 50, Cullman 33: Shea Mason's 15 points paced the Lady Red Devils (18-3), ranked fifth in Class 4A. Sallie Beth Burch followed with 10 points and four assists.

Meek 59, Mount Hope 42: Meek held a slight 23-21 lead at the break, but the Lady Yellow Jackets fell behind after halftime.

Tamara Robinson paced Mount Hope (6-8) with 20 points, while Laura Rutherford added 10.

Boys

Tanner 90, West Limestone 56: A trio of Rattlers paced the win — Latraius Mosley and Demarcus King each had 19 points, while Richard Nasseri scored 18 with a team-high six assists.

Also for Tanner (13-4), Rod Byrd scored 12 points.

West Limestone got 24 points from Zane Campbell.

East Lawrence 67, Hatton 57: Jared Grimes and Russ Stephenson each had 14 points for the winning Eagles.

Darren Hand's 22 points led Hatton.

Lawrence County 67, Cullman 50: Ahead just 33-31 at halftime, the Red Devils (15-5) took control with a big second half.

Lawrence County's Myles King had 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Teammate Cody Harville contributed 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocked shots, while Matthew Pugh had 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Hazlewood 75, R.A. Hubbard 70: Hazlewood led 40-28 at the break, but the Chiefs closed in after halftime.

Still, the Golden Bears (9-8) prevailed, led by Kerry Jones' 25 points. Keginald Jones and Chris Ricks each had 11 points for the winners.

For R.A. Hubbard (9-6), Devans Orr had a team-high 26 points with six rebounds, and teammate Quinn McGhee posted 22 points and 10 boards.
