McGhee tosses in 28 for Chiefs

R.A. Hubbard forced overtime after being down by two at the break to Speake, then took advantage, holding off the Bobcats for a 69-66 win at home.

Quinn McGhee led all scorers with 28 points for the Chiefs, which also got 16 from Xavier Hampton and 12 from Lebrandon Key.

Senior Jacob Moody paced Speake (13-3) with 24 points, Juarez Fitzgerald added 20 points and six assists, and K.C. Orr had 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Hazlewood 60, Athens Bible 39: The Golden Bears (11-8) led by nine at halftime and didn't look back. They had balanced scoring, as nine players pitched in points, led by junior Keginald Harris' 13 and Kerry Jones' 12.

Will Sinnett led Athens Bible with 16 and Joseph Baker added 10.


Hazlewood 73, Athens Bible 52: Amber Jones scored 20 points and Lachare Reedus added 17 as Hazlewood picked up the win.

Kirsten McClure led Athens Bible with a game-high 29 points, while Stephanie Smith recorded 11.

Curry 43, Addison 39: Class 2A Addison fell to Class 5A Curry despite three players scoring in double figures.

Jessy Willingham scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Kayla Carden had 12 points and five boards, and Haley Wiggins added 10 points.

R.A. Hubbard 57, Speake 44: Monique Hampton scored 15 points and picked up 15 rebounds to pace Hubbard past Speake.

Chasity Puryear added 18 points and three assists, and Whitney Ashford had 11 points.

Kylie Black led Speake with 16, while Revia Brown had 13.
