PREP ROUNDUP
Golden Bears clinch area title

From Staff Reports

Hazlewood's boys basketball team clinched the 1A, Area 15 regular-season title with a 51-49 overtime win at Decatur Heritage on Thursday night.

It was a last-second shot by Demetrius Garner that sealed the deal in overtime. Hazlewood led after each of the first three quarters, but the contest was tied 45-45 at the end of regulation.

"I felt like we did a good job — we were down and got back in the game," Decatur Heritage head basketball coach Tommy Kyle said.

Tight games are what Kyle said he's come to expect in Area 15 play—which also includes R.A. Hubbard and Athens Bible.
