Garner saves Golden
Bears 2nd straight night

Hazlewood Highís Demetrius Garner scored a game-winning basket for the second straight night as the Golden Bearsí boys basketball team beat Lawrence County 58-57 on Friday.

With Hazlewood trailing 57-56, Garner rebounded a missed free throw with about 12 seconds remaining and raced the length of the floor.

He scored with about five seconds to play, and teammate Mark Campbell intercepted
the inbounds pass to clinch the win.

On Thursday, Garnerís basket in overtime gave Hazlewood a win over Decatur Heritage.

Against Lawrence County, D.J. Jones led the Golden Bears (14-8) with 16 points. Keginald Harris added 15 points, and Kerry Jones had 13.

For Lawrence County, Myles King had 15 points, 13 rebounds and three assists.

Will Inman added 11 points, four assists and six steals. Cody Harville pulled down 12 rebounds, passed out eight assists and scored six points.

Both teams will play next in the Lawrence County Tournament.

Hazlewood is seeded first, and Lawrence County is second. In the opening game of the boysí draw, fourth-seeded East Lawrence and fifth-seeded Speake will play Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Tanner 68, Ardmore 65: The Rattlers (19-4), ranked seventh in Class 2A, won their ninth straight with the victory at Ardmore.

Tanner led 25-24 before Ardmore outscored the Rattlers 22-13 in the third quarter for a 46-38 lead. Tanner then took the fourth quarter 30-19 to secure the win.

The Rattlers sank 16 of 19
free throws for the game, including 15 of 17 in the fourth quarter.

Rod Byrd had 19 points to pace Tanner, while Richard Nasseri added 18.

Demarcus King scored 15 points, and Latraius Mosley had 11 points and 15 rebounds.

For Ardmore, Matthew Clem had 17 points. Jake Stagner added 16, and Duron Robinson had 11.

West Morgan 77, Hatton 49: Micah Randolph poured in 25 points to lead West Morgan, while Phillip Powell added 20 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists.

Brandon Jackson added 11 points, and Grant Harbin didnít score but aided the West Morgan cause greatly with seven assists.

For Hatton, Darren Hand scored 16 points, and Landon Campbell added 10.

East Lawrence 56, Priceville 55: Kenneth Bolden paced the
Eaglesí close win with 11 points.

Dakota Matthews added 10.

Roy Young pulled down 10 rebounds.

For Priceville, JaColby Reid had 19 points, and Josh Bedwell added 17. K.C. Green pitched in 11.

Falkville 74, West Point 44: Leading only 29-25 at halftime, Falkville (11-10) cruised in the second half to win by 30.

Joseph Lacy paced the winners with 24 points.

Heath Alford added 14 points, and Justin Blanchard had 11. Steven Lindsey pulled down 10 rebounds.

For West Point, Nick Graham had 13 points.
