Hazlewood girls run past Lawrence County in OT

A pair of ranked girls basketball teams battled into overtime when Hazlewood edged Lawrence County at home Friday 63-54.

The two teams were tied at 50 at the end of regulation before Class 1A No. 4 Hazlewood outscored 4A No. 5 Lawrence County in the extra period.

Amber Jones paced Hazlewood (20-5) with 26 points, while Jasmine Patton added nine. Antoinetta Howlett pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

For Lawrence County (20-4), Shea Mason scored 16
points and pulled down 11 rebounds, and Nakia McDaniel and Sallie Burch each had

Burch added seven assists and seven steals.

Jasma McDonald had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Both teams will participate in the Lawrence County Tournament, which begins Saturday in Moulton.

Lawrence County's girls enter as the top seed, while Hazlewood is seeded second. On Saturday, fourth-seeded R.A. Hubbard will face fifth-seeded Hatton at 6 p.m.

Hatton 74, West Morgan 47: Grace Harrison had 22 points and six rebounds to lead Hatton, which placed four players in double figures.

Erin Shelton added 12 points and seven assists, while Breanna Culver had 11 points. Kaitlyn Fleming scored 10 points and passed out seven assists.

Ashley Thorn scored 17 points to lead West Morgan, and Mikaila Etheredge added 14.

Addison 61, Oakman 41: Jessy Willingham paced Addison, ranked ninth in 1A, with 24 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals.

Haley Wiggins had 14 points and eight rebounds, and Kayla Woodard added nine points, seven assists and four steals.

East Lawrence 76, Priceville 67: The Lady Eagles got 30 points from Paige Hood, who also contributed 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals.

LaKendra Wright added 23 points.

For Priceville, Keila Hamlin scored 15 points, and Allison White contributed 10.
