Austin High's Dunn wins 3,200-meter run

PRICEVILLE — Austin High's track and field team had three different varsity athletes earn top-eight finishes at the Hoover Invitational this weekend, which was held in Priceville.

Austin's Jennifer Dunn won the 3,200-meter run and finished second in the 1,600 meters.

On the boys side, Kinard Wallace was sixth in the 55-meter dash, and Curt Norton was eighth in the long jump.

In addition, Brandon Allen finished 12th in the shot put, and Darius Moore sprinted to 13th place in the 400 meters.

For Decatur, Mary Elaine Williamson finished 14th in the 3,200 meters, and Meghan Hawkins recorded a pair of top-20 finishes by placing 18th in the 1,600 meters and 19th in the 800 meters.

For the Decatur boys, DeWan Troupe recorded their highest finish when he placed 27th in the shot put.

Decatur Heritage competed in the meet, and the Eagles' highest finishing boy was Hunter Barriault (59th in 3,200 meters) and their highest finishing girl was Charlotte Feinle (35th in the 3,200 meters).

In the team standings, Austin finished ninth in the girls varsity division, which was won by St. Paul's. Austin's varsity boys finished 20th, as Hoover won that division.
