Hazlewood girls in semifinals

MOULTON — Hazlewood High’s girls basketball team advanced to the Lawrence County Tournament semifinals with a 74-50 win Tuesday night over Mount Hope.

The Lady Golden Bears entered the tournament at Moulton as the second seed behind Lawrence County, while Mount Hope was seeded seventh.

Hazlewood will play again Friday against third-seeded East Lawrence.

The tournament will take Wednesday night off but will resume Thursday.

The Lawrence County girls and R.A. Hubbard will play at 6 p.m., and the Hazlewood
boys will
take on Speake at 7:30 p.m.

For Hazlewood, Jasmine Patton scored 16 points, while Amber Jones added 14. Naughtia Langham chipped in 11 points.

For Mount Hope, Tamara Robinson scored 14 points.

Lawrence County boys 76, Mount Hope 31: The second-seeded Red Devils got at least a point from 15 different players in a quarterfinal victory.

Lawrence County (17-7)
will face R.A. Hubbard on Friday.

Against Mount Hope, Will Inman scored 16 points. Grant Peebles added nine points and six rebounds.

Cory Boyd pulled down 11 rebounds, and Taylor McCullough added nine rebounds.

Brad Little’s 13 points paced Mount Hope.
