Falkville boys finish 2nd; Austin’s Dunn wins 1,600

PRICEVILLE — Falkville High’s boys track and field team placed second in the Bob Jones Indoor Invitational this weekend, and Austin placed 10th.

Mountain Brook won the meet, while Homewood placed third and Oak Mountain fourth.

Falkville compiled six individual top-five finishes. Cody Sewell was second in the high jump and third in the 55-meter hurdles.

Shane Edge placed second in the 400-meter dash, while teammate Jace Wilemon was fifth. In the 800-meter run, Edge was fourth, followed by Wilemon in fifth.

Falkville also placed third in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter relays. The 1,600 squad included Wilemon, Edge, Shane Ellis and Jonathan McNatt, while the 3,200 team had Wilemon, Edge, McNatt and Cory Hill.

For Austin, Kinard Wallace was fourth in the 55-meter dash and 10th in the high jump. Rondrico Isom was seventh in the high jump, and Brandon Allen placed 10th in the high jump.

Athens Bible’s Andy Davidson was ninth in the 3,200-meter run.

Priceville placed 14th in the 800-meter relay with the team of Garrett Bailey, James Lowery, Austin Long and Lonny Sutton.

Girls results

Austin High’s Jennifer Dunn won the 1,600 meters and finished third in the 800 meters.

Teammate Kristen Lupton was 15th in the 800 meters, while Whitney Wales was 16th in the 400-meter dash.

Austin placed fourth in the 3,200-meter relay with the team of Dunn, Lupton, Sarah Lane and Anna Bishop.

The 1,600-meter relay team finished sixth with Bishop, Lane, Wales and Taryn Hill.

Falkville’s Paige McCarley was seventh in the high jump, and Caylor Sewell was 13th. McCarley was 14th in the long jump. Krystal Gibbs was 10th in the 400 meters and 17th in the 800.

Katrina Barnett was 12th in the shot put.

The Lady Blue Devils’ 3,200-meter relay team finished ninth with Gibbs, Athena Kirkpatrick, Emily Robbins and Stephanie Koerber.

Priceville’s Mary Atchley was third in the shot put, followed by teammate Meagan Harper in fourth.
