Lawrence Co. boys fall to Russellville, but girls win

Three Lawrence County High boys basketball players scored in double digits, but that wasn't enough for the Red Devils in a 61-57 loss to Russellville.

Myles King led with 19 points and five rebounds, Matthew Pugh added 14 points and five boards, and Will Inman had 12 points.

The Red Devils (19-8) host Cullman today.

Falkville 57, Danville 53: Heath Alford scored 21 points and Joseph Lacey pitched in 16 as Falkville (12-11) slipped past Danville.

Zack Orr led Danville with 23 points, and Russell Standridge added 16.

Cornerstone Christian 57, Faith Christian 39: Brett Stowe scored 14 points for Cornerstone Christian (14-4), which placed four players in double figures.

Jason Clark added 13 points, while Ben Roberts had 12. Mark Pettit pitched in 10 points.

Girls

Lawrence County 52, Russellville 41: Shea Mason scored 14 points to lead the Lady Red Devils to their 23rd victory of the year. Jasma McDonald added 10 points and six rebounds.

Lawrence County will host Cullman today.

Danville 52, Falkville 27: Nine Danville players scored for the Lady Hawks (15-11), led by Bethany Evans' 13 points, nine assists and three steals.

Chelsea Keenum added nine points, and Alaina Fitzgerald and Lauren Simmons each had six rebounds.

Danville is at Priceville on Friday.

Hatton 82, Covenant Christian 53: Paige Rutherford picked up a double-double in pacing the Lady Hornets to the win. Rutherford scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Hatton (14-9).

Kaitlyn Fleming added 10 points and eight assists, while Emily Shelton and Breanna Culver each scored 16 points.

Kayla Aycock led Covenant Christian with 17 points.

Mount Hope 41, Tharptown 37: Laura Rutherford's 14 points and 12 rebounds were enough to help Mount Hope get past Tharptown. Haley Flannagan added 10 points and eight boards, and Tamara Robinson scored 12 points.

Hollie Hines paced Tharptown with 21 points.

The teams play again tonight in Mount Hope.
