Speake upsets Class 2A,
No. 7 Addison

The Speake Lady Bobcats did something Thursday night that few teams have accomplished this season: beat the Addison Lady Bulldogs.

Speake upset Class 2A, seventh-ranked Addison 49-47, coming back from a 28-21 deficit at halftime.

Speake (9-14) was led by Kylie Black's double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds, while teammate Malea Hensley added 13 points and seven boards.

For Addison (18-6), Jessy Willingham was high scorer with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Other girls games

Lawrence County 58, Hatton 43: Nakia McDaniel led Lawrence County (25-4) with 21 points and four assists, while teammate Shea Mason contributed 17 points and Sallie Burch 13.

For Hatton (14-10), Kaitlyn Fleming and Grace Harrison led with 11 points each. Paige Rutherford added eight points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Lady Hornets.

Mount Hope 45, Hackleburg 34: Tamara Robinson was high scorer for Mount Hope (10-10), while teammate Anna Roberson had 11 points and Haley Flannagan contributed a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

East Limestone 49, Decatur Heritage 37: Three Lady Indians paced the winners with double-digit scoring.

Danielle Jefferson was tops for East Limestone with 13, while Brittany Moore and Ebony McCrary each scored 10.

For Decatur Heritage (11-13), Candace Lee had team-bests of 23 points and six rebounds.

Boys games

Speake 78, Addison 65: Speake held a slight 36-35 lead at halftime and Jacob Moody was the difference in the game for the winning Bobcats with a double-double of 34 points and 13 rebounds.

Javaris Stover also posted a double-double for Speake (18-6) with 18 points and 13
boards, while teammate Juarez Fitzgerald had five points to go along with a team-high 10 assists.

For Addison, Colton Alston had 25 points, Preston Boyd 13 and Bradley Alston 10.

Decatur Heritage 73, East Limestone 48: All 12 Eagles contributed points in the win. Decatur Heritage (17-11) was led by Daniel Long, Brandon Little and Zach Woodruff, who each scored 10 points.

East Limestone's top scorer was London Brandon, who also had 10.

Lawrence County 83, Hatton 45: The Red Devils' Myles King led all scorers with 20 points, while teammate Cody Harville added 19 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and three blocks.

Hatton's Darren Hand had a team-high 17 points and Landon Campbell contributed 11.
