Decatur records second straight shutout to start year

The eighth-ranked Decatur girls soccer team shut out Arab 6-0 Tuesday night, allowing no shots on goal for the second straight night.

Meg Adams and Georgia Gamble each had two goals in the first half. The remaining scores for the Lady Red Raiders came from Sally Adams and Ali Dubach.

Recording assists in the wet game were Judeth McMahan, Jennifer Neill, Megan Schmidt and Adams.

Decatur will play next Feb. 23-24 in the A division of the Lakeshore Shootout in Birmingham.

Decatur (2-0) will face John Carroll and Hoover on Feb. 23 and Huntsville on Feb. 24.

Austin 8, Arab 0: Leslie Kirk, Leah Kelly and Sara Brown each scored two goals for the Lady Black Bears on Monday night.

Emily Reeves and Jen Zellner each added a goal.

Goal keeper Stephanie White had four saves in the win.

In junior varsity action, Austin won 3-0.
