Calhoun splits road softball doubleheader

FULTON, Miss. — Calhoun Community College’s softball team split two games at Itawamba. The Lady Warhawks fell 2-0 before coming back with a 5-2 win.

In the first game, Stevie Griffin and Lacey Keenum each had a single. Alicia Hall took the pitching loss.

In the second game, the two teams were tied at 2 after seven innings, but Calhoun scored three times in extra innings.

Lacey Keenum the go-ahead run from second base after the Itawamba pitcher threw away Courtney Terry’s hit to her.

Breanna Lee then doubled to score Terry. Lee scored on a double by Griffin.

Brittany Norton finished with a double and a triple. Terry and Jenia Stephenson each had a double, and Griffin singled. Lee got the pitching win after going to the mound in the seventh.

Calhoun (5-1) will play again Saturday at noon against Northeast Mississippi at Wilson Morgan Park.
