Calhoun softball drops doubleheader to CACC

Calhoun’s softball team dropped two games to Central Alabama Community College on Tuesday, falling 2-1 in the opener before losing the second game 2-0.

Calhoun (7-3) took a 1-0 lead after one inning, but couldn’t manufacture any runs thereafter.

CACC (21-1), meanwhile, scored both runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead and win. For Calhoun, Alicia Hall struck out six and gave up two hits.

Courtney Terry led Calhoun with a double and a single, Kala Weatherly added two singles, and Kim Haney had a single.

In the second game, Calhoun recorded nine hits, but couldn’t bring a runner home. Terry was 2-for-4 with a double and a single, Stevie Griffin had a double, and Lacey Keenum had two singles. Kim Haney, Elizabeth Mann, Whitney Mooney, Kala Weatherly, and Breanna Lee all had singles.

Breanna Lee gave up one hit in five innings.

The Lady Warhawks play at Wilson Morgan Park on Thursday against Jefferson State at 2 p.m.
