Frost, Dennis, Ingram help pace Decatur win

John Frost went 3-for-4 with five RBIs to lead Decatur High in a 12-7 win at East Lawrence on Monday.

Will Dennis went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double.

Blaine Ingram got the win in relief, allowing two hits in four innings and striking out three.

For East Lawrence (5-5), Jonathan Allen went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in the first inning, and Russ Stephenson and Jared Grimes each had singles.

Athens 9, Colbert Heights 4: Zack Brock struck out four in four innings and blasted a three-run home run for the Golden Eagles (12-0) in the Lauderdale County tournament.

Kyle Chronister went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Keith Chronister went 2-for-3. Colin McMurry went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Priceville 19, Brewer 8: Matt Croft went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles for Priceville (11-3). Lance Hughes added two singles and a home run.

Dustin Chambers singled twice, and Cody Etheredge was 2-for-4 with a double and six RBIs.

Chambers got the pitching win after working four innings.

Lauderdale County 19, Hatton 15: Will Nichols went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for Hatton, while teammate Nathan Berryman had three singles and four RBIs.

Darren Hand was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a home run. Caleb Hatton had a pair of singles.

Hatton 7, Brooks 3: Hand got the pitching win and blasted a home run. Nichols added a single and a home run.

Anthony Parker singled and drove in two runs for Hatton (7-5).


East Limestone 7, Clements 2: Morgan Franks had two doubles and an RBI for East Limestone, while Cassandra McKinney added two singles and an RBI. Jyssica Pepper had a double, and Danielle Holder contributed a single and three RBIs. Kayla Sneed, Chelsea Turner and McKenzie Crabtree each singled once.

Franks pitched the first four innings for East Limestone and struck out six, while Sneed relieved and worked the final three innings. She gave up one hits and struck out three.

East Limestone began quickly with two runs. Pepper lead off with a double, then scored on a double from Franks. McKinney singled to drive in Staci Johnson, who was running for Franks.

West Morgan 6, Good Hope 2: Lauren Seibert went seven innings, allowing two hits while striking out 12.

Seibert also went 2-for-4 with a single and a double, while Ashley Thorn went 2-for-2.

Hayden Hamby, Mandy Robinson, Mikaila Etheridge and Lauryn Kilgo each had a single for the Lady Rebels (5-4).

Danville 11, Vinemont 1: Mallory George went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double and an RBI to lead the Lady Hawks.

Whitney Haggamaker went 4-for-4 with an RBI, and Kassie Cowart, Bethany Evans and Nicole Linderman each had two singles.

Brittany Atkins pikced up the win allowing one run, including none unearned, in six strong innings of work.

Hartselle 7, Grissom 0: Lady Tigers pitcher Breanna Segars hurled a shutout, striking out five in seven innings.

Catie Keel had two singles and an RBI for Hartselle, while Kayla Orr had a double, a single and an RBI.

Sara Lang had two RBIs, and Audrey McClanahan blasted a two-run home run in the third inning for Hartselle (7-3).


Austin girls 2, Florence 1: Sara Brown scored in the first half, and Leah Kelly scored the game winner with about three minutes remaining in the second.

The Lady Black Bears (6-6) next play at Huntsville on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Priceville girls 2, St. Bernard 1: Whitley Scruggs scored Priceville's first goal off an assist by Stephanie Varner for a 1-0 halftime lead.

The winning goal came in overtime by Whitney Westmoreland off a direct kick from Stephanie Varner.

St.Bernard boys 2, Priceville 1: Jonathan Savoy scored the Bulldogs' lone goal.


Austin boys 156, Hartselle 182: The Black Bears' Dan Stephenson shot a 36 on the par-36 front nine of Point Mallard Golf Course, and teammate Caleb Ford shot a 39.

Madison Terry shot a 40, and Trevor Johnson shot a 41. Austin (1-1) next plays against at Athens at the Decatur Country Club on Tuesday.

Austin girls 140, Hartselle 153: Sloan Davis had a low score of 44 on the par-36 back nine of Point Mallard to lead the Lady Black Bears.

Teammate Kristen Askew shot a 46, and Erin Reid shot a 50. Francie Caradine shot a 53. The Lady Black Bears will play Athens on Tuesday at the Decatur Country Club.
