Calhoun softball sweeps 2 at NE Mississippi

BOONEVILLE, Miss. — Calhoun Community College swept a softball doubleheader at Northeast Mississippi 7-2 and 6-4 on Wednesday afternoon.
In the opening game, Alicia Hall pitched a complete game for the win, striking out 10 and giving up six hits.
The Lady Warhawks scored three runs in the first to set the tone for the game.
Calhoun's Courtney Terry was 4-for-4, while Lacey Keenum went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Brittany Norton, Breanna Lee, Jenia Stephenson and Kim Haney each had single.
In the second game, Lee led the effort with a double and single. She also picked up a win on the mound with seven strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Also for the Lady Warhawks, Terry, Norton, Keenum, Stevie Griffin and Kala Weatherly each had a single.
The Lady Warhawks begin a six-day road trip Friday at Chattahoochee Valley in Phenix City and Saturday at Wallace State in Dothan.
Calhoun then will travel to Kissimmee, Fla., participate in the Walt Disney Spring Break Event. The event is March 19-21, and Calhoun will face teams from New York, New Jersey and Illinois, including a doubleheader with Monroe Community College, the defending NJCAA Division III national champions.
