Calhoun sweeps pair at Walt Disney event

Calhoun's softball team finished the Walt Disney World Spring Break Event with a Wednesday sweep of Hudson Valley Community College of Albany, N.Y.

Calhoun (15-5)played six games at the event and won five times.

Pitching dominated as Calhoun won 4-1 and 14-0.

In the first game, Alicia Hall allowed two hits and struck out five in six innings of work. Breanna Lee closed out the win with three strikeouts in one inning of work.

Calhoun had seven hits, as Courtney Terry and Lindsey Lowery each had a double and a stolen base.

Stevie Griffin, Terry, Lee, Jenia Stephenson and Brittany Norton each had a single.

In the second game, Lee struck out 11 and gave up one hit to get the win.

The Lady Warhawks scored 12 runs on 10 hits in the first inning. Lowery, Stephenson, Griffin and Ashley Blankenship each had two singles. Lacey Keenum, Terry, Brittany Chafin, Elizabeth Mann and Kala Weatherly each had a single.

Lee and Terry had back to back doubles in the first inning.

Calhoun will begin Alabama Community College Conference Northern Division play Tuesday at Snead State.
