Calhoun sweeps Snead

Breanna Lee had eight strikeouts while allowing three hits to lead Calhoun (19-5) over Snead State, 4-3 in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday. Calhoun also won the first game 11-2.

In the fourth inning of the second game, Stevie Griffin led off with a single and Brittany Norton reached first on a fielder's
choice.

Deidra Isbell and Lindsey Lowery had singles to load the bases.

Lacey Keenum followed with a single to score Norton and Isbell. With runners on first and third, Keenum stole second before Courtney Terry double to score Lowery and Keenum.

In the first game, Lowery led Calhoun's offensive barrage going 4-for-4 with three singles, a double and one RBI.

Whitney Mooney had three singles and Jenia Stephenson had two singles. Keenum had a double, a single, and four RBIs.

Three of the RBIs occurred as a result of a single that the center fielder misplayed, allowing Keenum to clear the bases with an inside-the-park home run.

Norton, Terry, Griffin and Deidra Isbell each had a single apiece. Alicia Hall got the win by striking out seven and giving up two hits. She improved to 9-2-1.

Renee Rivers, who played at East Lawrence High led the Snead with a homer.
