Decaturís Lee helps lift Calhoun to a sweep

Decatur High graduate Breanna Lee pitched and hit the Calhoun Community College softball team to two conference wins over Wallace State-Hanceville on Friday 3-2 and 8-6.
Lee pitched in relief in both games with Calhoun behind — fourth inning in the first game and third inning in the second game.
In the first game, Calhoun rallied from a 1-0 deficit in the fourth inning when when Courtney Terry of East Lawrence and Jenia Stephenson singled. Lacey Keenum (Athens High) sacrificed them up a base, and Brianna Holt (Athens High) singled to score Terry to tie it 1-1. Lee led off in the sixth with a home run. Keenum tripled and and scored on East Lawrence grad Stevie Griffinís sacrifice. Ashley Blankenship also singled in the first game.
In the second game, Wallace State scored five runs in the first two innings. Calhoun coach Nancy Keenum made three substitutions and returned Lee to the mound in the third inning to give the Lady Warhawks a spark.
Lee shut down the Lady Lions for the next three innings. In the top of the fifth, Calhoun sent nine batters to score five runs.
Keenum led off with a base on ball. Holt singled, and Griffin walked. Kala Weatherly (Tanner) singled to score Keenum. Blankenship sacriced to score Holt, and Whitney Mooney (Clements) singled to score Griffin, and Lee doubled to score Weatherly and Mooney. In the fifth, Lee gave up a double, single, and a sacrifice to allow Wallace to regain the lead 6-5.
In the top of the seventh, Mooney walked, and Terry singled to move Mooney to second. Terry and Mooney advanced a base on a passed ball. A Wallace State error allowed Lee to reach second safely and Terry and Mooney to score. Stephenson doubled to score Lee to put the Lady Warhawks ahead 8-6.
Calhoun (25-9, 6-2 in the ACCC) will face Jefferson State in Birmingham on Tuesday.
