Tanner defeats ABS
in eight innings

Corey Ham scored Chip Greenhaw with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth to help Tanner to a 12-11 victory over Athens Bible.

The win moved the Rattlers to 15-15 on the season.

Clay McMeans went 3-for-5 with three singles and two runs scored. George Adams added three singles and an RBI, while Cliff Bunch was 2-for-3 with two singles and two RBIs.

Greenhaw finished the day going 3-for-4 with a double.


Austin girls 128, Hazel Green 138, Hartselle 145, Ardmore 147, Athens 166: Sloan Davis and Kristin Askew each shot low scores of 40 for the Lady Black Bears. Francie Caradine shot a 48 and Erin Reid shot 50 at the Canebrake Golf Course in Athens.

For the Lady Tigers, Taylor Kirby also shot a 40 and Kaylon King had a 44.


Decatur girls 1, Guntersville 1: Decatur struck first, getting a goal from Megan Schmidt off a pass from Sally Adams to put the Lady Red Raiders up early. Midway through the second half Guntersville tied the game.

Despite the goal, Decatur goalkeeper Sahnnon Laughlin played solid in net for the Lady Red Raiders, while defenders Kim Collis, Claire Walker, Kelsey Page, Anna Curl, Hannah Weatherford, and Tara Givens each made solid plays.


Grissom 7, Austin boys 2: Alex Worley and Kyle Smith took
victories in singles matches Wednesday.

But that was all the Black Bears could muster as Grissom swept the rest of the singles and won all the doubles matches.
