Calhoun takes baseball win over Jefferson St. at home

Calhoun Community College's baseball team scored a home win Friday afternoon over Jefferson State 9-4.
Calhoun (39-7) will play its final home games of thes eason Saturday against JeffersonState. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon.
WestLimestone High graduateCole Mitchell helped pace Calhoun on Friday by going 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
ZachWest was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.
DarylOtwell was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
Hartselle grad Jay Sivley pitched a complete game for the Warhawks. He worked all nine innings, struck out six and gave up nine hits.
For JeffersonState, Chris King was 2-for-4 with two runs. Stuart Barton and Trey Martin was 2-for-4.
Calhoun took an early lead with two runs in the third inning. JeffersonState rallied with a run in the fourth and one more in the sixth.
However, the Warhawks scored six times in the bottom of the sixth to take an 9-2 lead. They added another run in the ninth.
