head to state tournament

Athens Bible beat Decatur Heritage 16-1 in the Class 1A, Area 15 softball tournament finals Monday, but both schools will advance to the state playoffs.
For Decatur Heritage, this is the Lady Eagles' first berth in the playoffs.
Decatur Heritage opened with an 8-7 loss to Tharptown, which scored twice in the bottom of the seventh for the win.
The Lady Eagles then scored three straight wins, beating R.A. Hubbard 24-2 as shortstop Shayna Voss contributed a home run, Hazlewood 18-8 and Tharptown 9-8.
In the rematch with Tharptown, Heritage led 5-2 after one inning, 7-2 after two and 7-5 after the third inning. But Tharptown grabbed an 8-7 lead in the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the seventh with two outs and nobody on base, the Lady Eagles' Ginny Warren singled and then scored on a triple by Katie Cook. Cook then scored when a fly ball to right field by Alee Pasqualotto was dropped.
Class 3A, Area 11
Danville 9, Vinemont 0: Eight different players delivered hits for the Lady Hawks, led by Kelsey Bell's two doubles and two RBIs.
Whitney Haggamaker had a double, and Bethany Evans, Sarah Terry and Britney Atkins each singled twice.
Nicole Linderman, Kristen Sparkman and Kassie Cowart each had a single, and Evans stole a base.
Atkins was the winning pitcher after working the first four innings and striking out nine.
Good Hope 7, Danville 0: In the second round, Danville fell as Evans' single accounted for the team's only hit.
The Lady Hawks (22-19) will play again Tuesday in the double-elimination event at Danville.
Class 1A, Area 11
Speake 10, Lynn 0: The Lady Bobcats' Kylie Black pitched a shutout, striking out eight and allowing one walk.
MacKenzie Black had three singles, while Whitney Sparks had a single and a double. Black added a single and a double.
Speake 14, Mount Hope 1: Malea Hensley had a single and a solo homer in the win, while Paige Atkings, Bertha Priebe and Revia Brown each had two singles.
Black got the pitching win, striking out 11 and allowing five hits in six innings.
For Mount Hope, Elizabeth Kimbrough had an RBI single.
Lawrence County 5, West Morgan 4: Down 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Lawrence County scored twice when Summer Wilkerson's hit drove home Morgan Smith and Kassie Terry's hit drove in Wilkerson.
Wilkerson finished with a triple and two RBIs, while Sallie Beth Burch had a triple. Shea Lane had two singles, and Terry and Smith each had a single.
For West Morgan, Rachel Harbin was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Sara Hulvey singled and drove in a run.
Mikaila Etheredge accounted for one RBI.
Winning pitcher Kaylyn Smith worked all eight innings and struck out eight.
