Calhoun ends regular
season with sweep

Calhoun Community College's softball team finished its regular season Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep at home over Northwest-Shoals 12-4 and 8-0.

Next for the Lady Warhawks (35-13) is the Alabama Community College Conference in Alabaster. Calhoun will face Jefferson Davis of Brewton on Saturday at 10 a.m.

In Tuesday's first game, Calhoun fell behind 4-0 in the first inning before rallying to win.

Stevie Griffin paced the Lady Warhawks with a triple, a double and five RBIs. Breanna Lee doubled, and Jenia Stephenson singled twice. Lacey Keenum, Kala Weatherly, Brittany Chafin, Kimberly Haney and Lindsey Lowrey each had a single.

The Lady Warhawks stole six bases. Winning pitcher Alicia Hall (16-5) allowed four hits and struck out five.

In the second game, Keenum went 3-for-4 with three singles, and Courtney Terry was 2-for-3 with a double and a single.

Whitney Mooney and Stephenson each had a double, and Lowrey singled once.

Winning pitcher Ashley Blankenship worked four innings, striking out three and allowing one hit.
