Falkville boys, girls shine at state track and field meet

Falkville High had a good first day at the Class 2A state track and field meet Friday at Troy University.

According to statistics provided by meet scoring officials, Falkville sits in first place in the boys division and second in the girls portion. The meet is scheduled to wrap up Saturday.

For the Falkville girls, Paige McCarley finished first in the triple jump, while Alesia Smith was second. Alisha Sparkman was third in the javelin, and the 3,200-meter relay team finished third.

For the boys, Justin Blanchard was first in the 1,600-meter run. Steven Lindsey was first in the high jump, while teammate Cody Sewell was second. Sewell also was third in the triple jump.

Josh Henderson finished first in the pole vault, and teammate Jonathan McNatt was second. Jon Lindsey placed second in the shot put, and Aaron Pitt was third.

The 3,200-meter relay team won its division.

In 1A boys, Athens Bible's Andy Davidson placed second in the 1,600 meters, and the Trojans' 3,200-meter relay team was first.

Hazlewood's Paris Williams was third in the triple jump.

In 1A girls, Hazlewood's Amber Jones won the 1,600 meter, and teammate Jasmine Patton was first in the triple jump.

In 3A boys, Danville's Zack Orr was second in the high jump.

The Class 4A-6A results from Gulf Shores were not available by press time.
