Athens Bible ousted in baseball

ATHENS — Athens Bible fell in the Class 1A baseball semifinals to Hackleburg 10-6 and 6-1.
Rain interrupted the first game when ABS led 6-4 after three innings. When the teams returned to the field, Hackleburg scored three runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth.
Ryan Mooring singled twice for ABS, and Troy Steelman added a double. Justin Raper singled three times for Hackleburg.
In the second game, Hackleburg scored once in the first inning, twice in the fourth and three times in the fifth. Athens Bible got its lone run in the fourth inning.
A.J. Price and Connor Brown each had a double for the Trojans. Trey George paced Hackleburg with a solo home run.
Hackleburg (32-4) entered as the No. 1-ranked team in 1A at the end of the regular season, while the Trojans (27-13) were No. 3.
Hackleburg advanced to next week’s state finals in Montgomery against either Millry or Providence Christian.
