From Staff Reports

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Fort Wayne Fusion posted 21 unanswered points to start Saturday nightís arenafootball2 contest against Tennessee Valley and cruised to a 56-33 victory at Memorial Coliseum.

Former Texas Tech quarterback Cody Hodges threw for six touchdowns and caught a game-clinching 7-yard score with 2:48 to play as the Fusion (3-5) snapped a four-game losing streak.

Tennessee Valley quarterback Ryan Porter — who was acquired in a trade from Manchester on Thursday — threw for 180 yards and five touchdowns in his first start.

Former Alabama A&M star Henry Freeman had three touchdown catches, and ex-Ole Miss standout Travis Blanchard had a pair of touchdown receptions for the Vipers (4-4).

The Vipers visit Quad City (5-3) on Friday night for a 7:35 kickoff before returning home June 9 to host South Division rival Florida at the Von Braun Center on Kids Jersey Night.

The Vipers trimmed the deficit to nine with fewer than 11 minutes left. But they never got any closer.

Hodge connected with Cesare Manning on a 35-yard scoring strike minutes later before catching Jonathan Grahamís halfback pass just inside the three-minute mark.
