Player of the year

IF: Will Nichols, Hatton, Sr.: Impact player at the plate and in the field. Batted .500 while splitting time at shortstop and pitcher. Had 77 hits with 10 home runs, 16 doubles and 46 RBIs as Hatton reached the Class 2A state finals. Also stole 23 bases and scored 76 runs. On the mound, posted a 9-4 record with a 2.91 ERA, striking out 79 batters in 77 innings.

Rest of the team

P: Anthony Atemon, West Morgan, Sr.: Went 11-4 on the mound, striking out 107 batters in 89 innings as the Rebels made it to the Class 2A state semifinals. Also played right field and batted .354 with 45 hits, 14 doubles and 52 runs.

P: Joseph Baker, Athens Bible, Jr.: Went 9-3 on the mound with a 1.51 ERA, striking out 101 batters in 74 1/3 innings as Athens Bible reached the Class 1A state semifinals. Also, hit .462 with 16 doubles and stole 33 bases en route to scoring 45 runs.

C: Parker Hogan, Danville, So.: Hit .391 as Danville advanced to the Class 3A state quarterfinals. Had eight triples and three doubles among 45 hits, and scored 38 runs.

C: Chris Hutto, Hatton, Sr.: Starter behind the plate for Hatton and batted .340 with 49 hits, 11 homers, 11 doubles and 62 RBIs.

C: Jordan Pugh, Athens Bible, So.: Batted .380, delivering 11 doubles and driving in 27 runs.

IF: Luke Adams, Decatur Heritage, Sr.: Five-year starter for Decatur Heritage, playing third base/pitcher as the Eagles made it to the Class 1A state quarterfinals. Batted .337 with four homers and 26 RBIs. Also went 10-3 on the mound.

IF: Matthew Dudley, Hatton, Sr.: The third baseman hit .362 with 47 hits, seven doubles, six home runs and 42 RBIs. Also took the mound for the Hornets, going 7-4.

IF: Jake Gilliland, Addison, Sr.: Played shortstop and batted .460 with 60 RBIs as Addison reached the second round of the Class 2A state playoffs. Delivered 52 hits, including 12 doubles and 10 homers, while scoring 46 runs.

IF: Bo Godwin, Decatur Heritage, Jr.: The Eagles' shortstop hit .468, stole 23 bases and scored 42 runs. Struck out just six times in 111 at-bats.

IF: Ryan Morring, Athens Bible, Jr.: Played third base for the Trojans, batting .349 with an on-base percentage of .554 and three home runs. Also went 5-1 on the mound, posting a 1.79 ERA.

IF: Ryan Wheeler, West Limestone, Jr.: Batted .410 with a slugging percentage of .731. The shortstop/second baseman delivered seven doubles, three triples and four home runs as West Limestone reached the Class 3A state playoffs. Also went 3-1 on the mound with seven saves, posting an ERA of 0.34.

OF: Josh McAbee, West Morgan, Jr.: Played center field, batting a team-high .471 with 66 hits, 16 doubles and four homers. Also led the Rebels with 60 runs scored and 30 stolen bases.

OF: Nathan Berryman, Hatton, Sr.: The Hornets' center fielder batted .387, delivering 58 hits with 29 RBIs and 59 runs. Struck out just 11 times in 217 trips to the plate.

OF: Michael Clem, West Morgan, Jr.: Rebels' left fielder hit .456 this season, delivering 11 doubles, three triples and six home runs. Also stole 25 bases, drove in 38 runs and scored 31 more as West Morgan made it to the Class 2A state semifinals.

OF: Blake Turner, Addison, Sr.: Batted .496 for Addison with 59 hits, including eight doubles and seven triples. Drove in 34 runs and scored 51.

OF: Dakota Wilson, Danville, Jr.: Hit .425 for the Hawks. Delivered 57 hits with 16 doubles, 31 RBIs and 41 runs.

UTL: Colton Hill, West Limestone, Jr.: The first/third baseman served as one of the Wildcats' leaders. Batted .400 with a slugging percentage of .710 and had seven doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 32 RBIs. Also took the mound, going a perfect 5-0.

UTL: Daniel Korpi, West Morgan, Sr.: Key contributor for the Rebels on the mound, in the infield and at the plate, hitting .398 with 21 doubles, two triples, five homers and 52 RBIs, while scoring 49 runs. Was also key in West Morgan's playoff run, earning a pair of pitching wins in the postseason.

DH: Drew Atchley, Decatur Heritage, Sr.: Hit .475 with 13 doubles, seven home runs and 48 RBIs. Played catcher for the Eagles.

DH: George Adams, Tanner, Sr.: The Rattlers' catcher batted .490, with a team-best 48 hits, 11 doubles and 27 RBIs. Also lead Tanner with 36 runs.

DH: Zach Vick, Speake, Jr.: Hit .500 for the Bobcats with 45 hits, including four triples. The catcher also scored 30 runs this year.
