The Decatur American all-stars remained unbeaten in the double-elimination Dixie Boys Baseball 14-year-old sub-district tournament at Cedar Ridge Middle School on Tuesday night, claiming a 9-4 win over Greenhill.
With the win, Decatur will face Colbert County on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for the tournament championship. Colbert County earned a spot in the championship round with a 10-4 victory over Underwood on Tuesday.
Should once-beaten Underwood win the first game, a second contest will follow immediately to decide the champion.
Against Greenhill, David Bookout claimed the win on the mound for Decatur. Bookout pitched four innings, allowing six hits, striking out four and walking none.
Ty Keenum and Hayden Naumann led Decatur at the plate with a home run and single each.
Connor Graves had a double, while Devin Wynn had two singles. Spencer Beasley, Dylan Woods and Thomas Russell finished with a single each.
With Tuesday's win, Decatur American assured itself of a berth in the district tournament, which is slated to be played in Lawrence County beginning July 6.
The top three teams in the sub-district tournament at Cedar Ridge will advance into district play.
