Auburn, Clemson agree to play two
In an ongoing attempt to bolster Auburn's football schedule, Tigers' athletics director Jay Jacobs inked another deal with a major conference team for the future.
Auburn announced Thursday a home-and-home deal with Clemson (Atlantic Coast Conference) for the 2010 and 2011 seasons, with Auburn hosting first. The Tigers already are set to play at home against West Virginia (Big East) in 2008 and returning the trip to Morgantown, W.Va., in 2009.
The 2010 home against Clemson is set for Sept. 18, while the return trip to Clemson's Memorial Stadium is scheduled for Sept. 17, 2011.
"This is a continuation of our commitment to schedule quality non-conference opponents," Jacobs said. "The home-and-home series will also be beneficial to both schools' fans with both campuses being so close in proximity."
Auburn is 32-11-2 all-time against Clemson, the last meeting being a 21-17 Auburn win over Clemson in the 1998 Peach Bowl. The last regular season meeting came in 1971 when Auburn beat Clemson 35-13 in Cliff Hare Stadium.
