Tide's Davidson lands with Charlotte
From staff, AP reports
After a difficult season, Jermareo Davidson finally received some good news on Thursday.
He was selected in the second round, 36th overall by the Golden State Warriors in the NBA draft.
Davidson was then traded to the Charlotte Bobcats with guard Jason Richardson for the rights to North Carolina forward Brandan Wright, the no. 8 overall pick.
“This is something I’ve always dreamed about, playing in the NBA,” Davidson said.
“I feel like I’ve worked hard to make it happen, but at the same time, I am very grateful to all the people in my life who helped me make it happen. I appreciate all the people who have been there for me.”
The 6-foot-11 Davidson averaged 14.0 points and 8.2 rebounds while having to deal with the deaths of his girlfriend and brother.
He watched the draft with family and friends at his Atlanta home.
Davidson entered the draft after his sophomore season, but withdrew his name and stayed at Alabama through his senior year.
Last season Alabama finished 20-11 overall and 7-9 in conference and missed the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2001.
