Two Decatur teams in 11- and 12-year-old district finals

HARTSELLE — The Decatur Dixie Youth National League 11- and 12-year-old all-stars kept their championship hopes alive Tuesday night at Sparkman Park, claiming a 9-6 district tournament elimination-round victory over Hartselle American.

The Decatur American defeated Athens National 13-8.

Decatur American and Decatur National play at 6 p.m. Wednesday. If Decatur National wins, the two teams will play again 30 minutes later for the championship.

9- and 10-year-olds

The Athens All Stars defeated Hartselle American 13-0 in four innings Monday night to claim the sub-district 1 championship.

Team members are Andrew Fikes, Michael Elkins, Luke Robinson, Brad Morrow, Cade Anderson, Sidney Meals, Robbie Phraner, Charlie Holland, Dean Bunnell, Conlon Farmer, Jordan George and Jackson Pettus. Coaches are Mark George, Chris Morrow and Pat Anderson.

Athens will meet Morgan American West in Hartselle at 6 p.m. Friday.

Colbert County 10, Hatton 6: Cody Gargis was the winning pitcher for Colbert County, and also contributed three hits in the win as did teammates Tyler Craft and Easton Evans.

Ethan Parker delivered three hits for Hatton.

Moulton 12, Colbert County 5: Zach Nichols got the win on the mound for Moulton.

Moultonís Preston Montgomery and Klay Collins each added three hits for the winners.

Moulton 4: Winston County 2: Preston Montgomery was the winning pitcher and Tanner Reed recorded a save in the sub-district 11 game at Town Creek on Tuesday. Zach Nichols, Chandler Dutton, Jackson Gillespie and Montgomery all had hits for the winners.

11- and 12-year olds

Moulton 7: Caddo 2: Luke Lovelady cracked two hits to pitch strong pitching from Ryan Rogers and Martin Little
in the sub-district 11 game at Town Creek. Rogers got the win and Little, the save.

Tyler Moody had a single for Caddo.

Hatton 6, Colbert County 4: Riley Nolen delivered a triple for Hatton in the win, while teammates Jake Bradford and Cody Huston had two hits each.

Tyler Gooch got the win on the mound, while Kamron Potter picked up the save.

Colbert Countyís Chandler Brown had a triple.

15- and 16-year-olds

Decatur 2, Central 1: Central held a 1-0 lead after scoring in the second inning before Decaturís Matthew Poole hit a two-RBI single in the fifth for the win.

Jake Morgan was the winning pitcher, striking out five, picking up his second win of the tournament.

15- and -16-olds

Decatur 2, Central 1: Central held a 1-0 lead after scoring in the second inning before Decaturís Matthew Poole hit a two-RBI single in the fifth for the win at Austin High.

Jake Morgan was the winning pitcher, striking out five, picking up his second win of the tournament.
