Hartselle 14-year-olds pull out a victory

Behind a strong pitching performance from Seth Wiley, the Hartselle 14-year-old all-stars beat Phil Campbell 8-2 and advanced to the championship round of the Dixie Boys Baseball district tournament Monday night.

Hartselle will face Decatur National at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Ridge Middle School.

Decatur National already has claimed one win over Hartselle in the double-elimination tournament. Should Hartselle win Tuesday, another game will be played Thursday to decide the championship and who gets the berth in the state tournament, which is slated to begin July 20 in Fayette.

Wiley stood tall on the mound for Hartselle to pick up the win. He pitched six innings, scattering six hits while striking out five and walking none.

Matt Johnston and Hayden Dye led Hartselle at the plate with a triple each. Will Lang had two singles, while Wiley and Jake Kimbrell finished with a single each.

In the 13-year-old division, Decatur National lost 19-11 to Hamilton in the elimination bracket. Hamilton will play Hartselle on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Lucas Wheatley led Decatur National's hitting with a double and two singles.

William Orman and Jonathan Ward had a double and a single each.

Maurian Barbee belted four singles. Phillip Fitzgerald also had a single for Decatur National.

9- and 10-year-olds

Decatur National 6, Morgan County Central 5: Playing in a Dixie Youth Baseball 9- and 10-year-old district tournament in Hartselle, Decatur National scored a win over Morgan County Central.

Joe Sanders, T.J. Bramlett, Jack Underwood and William Meadows each pitched for Decatur National, which will face either Hartselle or Athens on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

For Decatur, Cody Littlejohn had two singles, while Chandler Love added a double. Pasha Page, Luke Denton, Beau Lovelace, Brody Knight and Meadows each had a single.

For Morgan County Central, Kaleb Parker doubled twice, and Zac Kilgro singled twice.

11- and 12-year-olds

Moulton 6, Rogersville 2: In a district tournament game, Moulton's Ryan Inman pitched six innings for the win. He struck out four.

At the plate, Ryan Rogers and Zack Terry each had a double and a single, while Victoria Draper added a triple and a single. Draper and Terry each drove in a run.

Tracy White had a two-run homer.

Moulton will face Greenhill on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Hatton 10, Colbert County 3: Tyler Gooch and Riley Nolen each had two doubles and a single for Moulton, while Michael Walker added two doubles.

Colby Harville singled three times.

Hatton will face Central-Florence on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
