Tide changes football parking

From Staff Reports

Everyday it appears something else has changed at The University of Alabama for the 2007 football season.

On Wednesday, the school announced new parking and traffic policies for 2007 home football games.

Several locations on campus have been closed to public parking. These include Shelby Hall — grass areas and certain paved areas, all student residential parking areas, the Ferguson deck (all levels will be for student residential parking only), and the Campus Drive deck (now a reserved deck).

The school has implemented a bus service to transport fans and students from locations across the campus to the stadium

Because of the bus system, street-side parking has been eliminated in various areas on campus.

Spots in a public recreation vehicle lot are being sold at a first-come, first-serve basis. Entry time for RV’s on campus is 6 p.m. Friday before home games.

The university is offering a non-reservation RV lot which will be free to the public at the old Northington Campus located behind Bruno’s Supermarket on McFarland Boulevard. It is available for entry Thursday before each home game.

“Our goal is to continue to enhance the best college football gameday experience in the country,” said Gene Hallman, president of Bruno Event Team. “We will continue to closely monitor each gameday to determine what future improvements are needed. Given the growth of both the campus and gameday tailgating, overall, I think fans will find this year’s gameday to be an enjoyable and safer experience.
