Green picks Tide; Steele out of surgery
TUSCALOOSA — The Alabama basketball team received good news this week when St. Jude High product Jamychal Green publicly committed to the CrimsonTide.
The 6-foot-8, 225-pound Green is considered one of the top power forward prospects in the country. He led his Montgomery-based school to a state championship in 2005 and state runner-up in 2006.
Rivals.com has him listed as the 25th-ranked high school player overall and Scout.com has him as the fifth-best power forward.
“(Alabama) showed me I was a priority, and I respect that,” Green told Rivals.com. “I prayed about this a lot, and everything led me to Alabama.”
In other Tide news, point guard Ronald Steele had successful surgery on his left knee Thursday and should be available for the season.
According to a release from the school, Steele had small cartilage fragments removed from his left knee by James Andrews and Lyle Cain at St. Vincent’s Birmingham hospital.
