Georgetown, Clemson await Tide hoopsters
Alabama released its basketball schedule Monday with some tough games against non-conference teams and a back loaded SEC schedule.
Alabama plays at Texas A&M on Nov. 28 and takes on Georgetown in the inaugural SEC-Big East showdown Dec. 5 in Birmingham.
The Tide will travel to Las Vegas to be in the Findlay Toyota Las Vegas Classic where teams include Missouri State, Purdue and Iowa State.
Alabama hosts to 2007 NCAA tournament team George Washington on Dec. 29 and Clemson on New Year's Day.
Four of Alabama's first six Southeastern Conference games are at home, but the Tide finishes with six of nine on the road.
"I know that the NCAA selection committee looks at your last 10 as a rule," Tide head coach Mark Gottfried said.
"I think six of our last nine are on the road. (That) means we're just going to have to be a great road team. We've got to do well enough to win on the road. That's going to be hard for us, but that's part of the challenge."
Alabama's first exhibition game comes against North Alabama on Nov. 5, and the Tide plays its first regular season game at home against Troy on Nov. 9.
