Addison, Falkville post wins on the road
From staff reports No. 10-ranked Addison High shut down Hatton for a 21-0 win on the road Friday night. The Bulldogs (1-1) limited Hatton to 96 rushing yards, 24 passing yards and six first downs. On offense, three different players scored touchdowns. Colton Alston put Addison on the board in the second quarter when he caught a 49-yard pass from Jordan Rivers. Jason Fowler added a 2-yard run in the third quarter, and Elliott Carpenter scored on a 56-yard run in the fourth quarter. Daniel Mann kicked all three extra points. Carpenter finished with 75 rushing yards on five attempts. Falkville 29, Westbrook Christian 22: The Blue Devils remained unbeaten with a road win. Dustin Jump scored on a 78-yard run on the first play from scrimmage for a 6-0 lead. He finished with 176 rushing yards on 19 carries. Westbrook's David Ryan answered with three runs for touchdowns and another for a 2-point conversion before halftime. Falkville's Jonathan McNatt had a 1-yard touchdown run, and Brandon Clark caught a 2-point pass from McNatt. But Westbrook led 22-14 at halftime. In the second half, Falkville took command. Steven Lindsey caught a 10-yard pass from McNatt, and McNatt scored on a 2-point run to tie it at 22 in the third period. In the fourth period, Clark caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from McNatt, and Jace Wilemon kicked the extra point. Falkville never trailed again. Brilliant 14, R.A. Hubbard 13: Brilliant knocked off ninth-ranked R.A. Hubbard, which suffered a costly turnover in the second quarter. With the score tied 7-7 in the second quarter, R.A. Hubbard lost a fumble at its own 10-yard line. Brilliant turned that into a touchdown on a 2-yard run by Dillon Miller for a 14-7 lead. R.A. Hubbard (1-1) managed a touchdown in the third period when Tecumseh Garth caught a 6-yard pass from LeBrandon Key. However, the snap on the extra point was bad, and R.A. Hubbard tried to pick it up and score on a 2-point run, but Brilliant stopped the Chiefs short of the end zone. The score stayed 14-13 the rest of the way. Key had two touchdown passes. He also completed a 25-yard scoring pass to Gregory Young. Brannon Knight made eight tackles for the Chiefs.
