LOCAL INFLUENCE

Victor Allen (Hazlewood), Birmingham-Southern, LB: Helped the Panthers record 41-13 win over Mississippi College junior varsity in the school’s first football game since 1939. Made three tackles, including one solo stop.

Cole Barthel (Decatur), Arkansas Tech, QB: Completed 10 of 16 passes for 79 yards as the Wonder Boys beat Texas College 21-6. Ran eight times for 14 yards, including a long of 13.

Travis Boyd (Brewer), Troy, TE: Caught two passes in a 59-31 loss to Florida. One catch covered 6 yards and the other went for 3 yards.

Wes Brown (Athens), Tennessee, DE: Credited with a quarterback hurry in the Vols’ 39-19 win over Southern Mississippi.

Sam Burnthall (Decatur), Alabama, DB: Played in Alabama’s 24-10 win over Vanderbilt but was not credited with any tackles.

Brett Byford (Hartselle), Nebraska, C: The first permanent team captain from Alabama, Byford started for the 15th straight game when Nebraska beat Wake Forest 20-17. He helped pace an offense that gained 373 yards.

Luke Chenault (Decatur), North Alabama, OL: Played as a reserve in UNA’s 43-24 win over Tusculum.

Sean Darby (East Limestone), Jacksonville State, DE: Started at right end in a 33-19 win over Chattanooga and made three tackles. Also was credited with two quarterback hurries.

Kendral Ellison (Austin), Rhodes, DE: Made three tackles and two sacks in Rhodes’ 28-21 win over LaGrange.

Eric Gray (West Morgan), Alabama, DB: Played in Alabama’s win over Vanderbilt but was not credited with any tackles.

Reshard Langford (Tanner), Vanderbilt, DB: Made five tackles in a loss to Alabama. Intercepted a pass and returned it 17 yards. Broke up a pass.

Stephen Laye (Elkmont), Huntingdon, WR: Caught two passes for 24 yards in a 34-3 win over Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Also fielded two punts but called fair catch on both.

Rolando McClain (Decatur), Alabama, LB: Started at middle linebacker and tied for team-high honors with six tackles. Made one sack for a 9-yard loss and broke up a pass.

Chris McWilliams (Athens), Alabama State, LB: Played in Alabama State’s 21-10 win over Texas Southern but was not credited with any tackles.

Duron Robinson (Ardmore), Faulkner, DB: Faulkner was off this past weekend, but Robinson had a team-high eight tackles and one interception in a 30-6 loss to Pikeville the previous week. His interception was the first for the first football team in school history.

John Scott (Austin), Jacksonville State, DL: Made four tackles in JSU’s win over Chattanooga and was credited with a quarterback hurry. He stopped Chattanooga’s first offensive play for a 1-yard loss.

LaDarrius Stanley (R.A. Hubbard), UAB, DL: Started at nose guard in the Blazers’ 34-24 loss to Florida State but was not credited with any tackles.

Pierre Stover (R.A. Hubbard), North Alabama, WR: Played but did not record any statistics in the Lions’ win over Tusculum.

Jerraud Powers (Decatur), Auburn, DB: Started and made six tackles in Saturday’s 26-23 overtime loss to South Florida. Made one of his stops behind the line for a 2-yard loss.
