Danville wins twice in volleyball; Austin drops a pair

Danville High's volleyball team swept matches from Falkville 25-16, 25-7 and Vinemont 25-20, 25-12 on Tuesday.

Alaina Fitzgerald had 13 kills for Danville, while Lindsey Simmons added 10 and Jordan Spinks seven.

Kirby Wallace served 14 aces. Tara Wimberley added six, and Simmons had five. Fitzgerald had 19 assists.

In digs, Fitzgerald led with six, while Wallace and Wimberley each had five.

Austin drops two: The Lady Black Bears fell twice at Sparkman, losing to the hosts 25-15, 25-20 and Grissom 25-12, 25-11.

Shara Foster led with eight kills, while Andrea Frame and Brittney Smith each had five. Lindsey Rogers paced Austin in assists with 11, while Carlie Keenum had nine.

Tierra Robinson was tops in blocks with four, and Shanise Foster added three.

Ali Barnett led in digs with seven.

Austin (20-10) will host Danville and Bob Jones on Thursday.

Speake sweeps two:The Lady Bobcats beat Phillips 25-12, 25-4 and Meek 25-7, 25-13.

Kylie Black led with 16 kills, while Malea Hensley had 10. Hensley added 17 aces, while Cortney Jones had 18 assists.
