Allen helps Priceville grab first win of year

From staff reports

Priceville High running back Eli Allen ran for 102 yards, scored two touchdowns and had two interceptions as the Bulldogs beat Columbia 24-6 Thursday night.

Priceville (1-2) had 241 rushing yards and took advantage of five Eagle turnovers to win a Class 4A, Region 7 matchup.

Allen opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 15-yard run, but the Eagles (1-2) kept Priceville out of the end zone until late in the third quarter when Allen caught a 5-yard pass from quarterback Logan Manthey to make it 17-0.

Justin Anderson's 25-yard field goal after halftime came between the scores.

Manthey found Kristian Barker from 28 yards out for another touchdown, extending the lead to 24-0 with 8:53 left in the game.

Columbia's Cash Maclin caught a 63-yard pass from Nick Rocket to avoid a shutout.

Fultondale 29, Falkville 24: In a battle of unbeatens, Falkville fell at home. The Blue Devils' defense limited the Fultondale offense, which entered with an average of 60.5 points a game.

However, Falkville lost two fumbles inside its own 20. Also, late in the game with the Blue Devils trying a last-gasp drive, they went for a first down from their own 1-yard line and didn't make it, allowing Fultondale a touchdown drive of 1 yard.

Falkville got its four touchdowns from three different people. Steven Lindsey caught two touchdown passes from Jonathan McNatt of 41 and 81 yards. Dustin Jump returned a fumble 20 yards for a score.

Brandon Clark caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from McNatt. The conversions failed after each touchdown.

Falkville managed 246 yards. McNatt completed 7 of 23 passes for 233 yards and three TDs.
