Tanner misses chance to tie

From staff reports

In a battle of Class 2A, Region 8 rivals, Red Bay edged Tanner at home 21-20 with
the help of a missed extra point.

The visiting Rattlers (2-1) trailed 21-14 entering the final period but scored a touchdown with about two minutes to play. David Adams accounted for the points when he caught a 25-yard scoring pass from Derrick Malone.

However, the extra point failed, and Red Bay (3-0) didn't allow another threat.

For Tanner, ranked fifth in 2A, Jarquise Peoples rushed for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns, scoring on runs of 17 and 36 yards.

Rattlers' linebacker Keith Shoulders recorded 11 tackles.

Josh Senkbeil rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown for Red Bay, while teammate Anthony Horton scored twice on runs of 1 and 4 yards.

Addison 21, Winston County 15: The Bulldogs rallied from a 6-0 deficit in the second quarter as three different players scored a touchdown each.

Colton Austin caught a 10-yard scoring pass from Jordan Rivers, and Daniel Mann's extra point put No. 9 Addison (2-1) ahead 7-6.

Elliott Carpenter scored on a 52-yard run in the third quarter, and after Winston County scored a touchdown of its own to cut it to 14-12, Addison put it away with Andrew Privett's 3-yard run to the end zone.

Mann's third extra point of the night gave the Bulldogs a 21-12 advantage.

Brett Bryson scored all of Winston County's points on three field goals and a touchdown reception.

Cherokee 26, Hatton 16: The Hornets fell to 0-3 after losing on the road to Cherokee.
