Decatur volleyball splits; Austin, Hatton sweep

Decatur High split a pair of volleyball matches at home Tuesday, falling to Muscle Shoals 25-18 and 25-10 and beating Cullman 25-20 and 25-15.

Whitney Fletcher led the Lady Red Raiders (10-15, 2-2 in Class 5A, Area 16) with nine kills, while Quita Lyle added eight. Shannon Laughlin contributed 10 assists, while Kim Collis had five.

Fletcher, Lyle and Kate Graham each had three digs, and Graham added four blocks. Collis served four aces.

  • Austin sweeps two: The Lady Black Bears took victories Tuesday over Florence 25-13, 30-28 and Catholic-Huntsville 25-8, 25-18.

    Shara Foster paced Austin (25-12) with 18 kills, while Brittney Smith added 11 and Shanice Foster nine.

    Lindsey Rogers had 19 assists, and Carlie Keenum contributed 13. Shara Foster led in blocks with 11, and Ali Barnett had 11 digs. Rogers served three aces.

    Austin, Decatur and Athens will play a tri-match Thursday at Athens.

  • Hatton beats pair: The Lady Hornets scored wins over Athens Bible 26-24, 25-21 and Lawrence County 25-13, 23-25, 25-20.

    Kaitlyn Fleming led with 17 kills, while Chloe Malone had 15. Tamara Terry had a team-high 31 assists, and Malone provided seven blocks.

  • Danville splits: LindseySimmons had 16 kills as Danville beat Priceville 25-23, 25-19 and lost to Westminster 19-25, 26-24, 25-20.

    Jordan Spinks added 14 kills, and Alaina Fitzgerald had 13.

    Fitzgerald led in assists with 21, while Simmons led with 10 aces. Spinks added eight aces.

    Fitzgerald was tops in digs with eight.
