Brewer twins total 260 yards in win

Brewer High twins Chris and Tony Dickerson combined for 260 rushing yards to help the Patriots beat Hayden 14-7.

Brewer improved to 3-2, which is the most wins the improving Patriots program has had since winning four in 2000.

Chris Dickerson rushed for 193 yards and scored on a 53-yard run in the opening quarter. Tony Dickerson rushed for 67 yards and completed a 2-point conversion pass to Chris. That followed Miles Cloer's 24-yard scoring run in the third period.

Hayden's only touchdown came in the second quarter.

Cloer finished with 69 rushing yards for Brewer, and Phillip Newby added 54 rushing yards.

Jess Lanier 20, Athens 14: The Golden Eagles led 14-7 before Jess Lanier scored twice in the fourth quarter, including a touchdown with 1:10 to play.

Jess Lanier quarterback Chad Hudson scored on a 1-yard keeper to cut the lead to 14-13. Then he threw a 28-yard pass to Cordarry Byron for the winning points.

Athens built its lead with a 73-yard touchdown run by Robert Brown in the third quarter. Trey Brooks added another touchdown on a 23-yard pass from Todd Pepper. Andrew McCartney kicked both extra points.

Brown finished with 91 rushing yards on 12 carries.
