D.J. Jones rolls up 309 yards, 3 TDs
No. 4 Hazlewood improves to 6-0

D.J. Jones piled up 309 rushing yards on 20 carries to lift fourth-ranked Hazlewood to a 48-16 over Phillips-Bear Creek.

Jones scored on runs of 1, 35 and 85 yards, all in the first half as Hazlewood (6-0) took a 27-8 advantage. Carlos Holden added a 1-yard touchdown run for the Golden Bears.

In the second half, Timmy Ricks scored on a 95-yard run for Hazlewood, and Shannon Nance returned an interception 35 yards for a score.

Quintavius Williams added a 19-yard touchdown run.

Hazlewood rushed for 388 yards, while limiting Phillips-Bear Creek to 35 yards on the ground and 50 overall while forcing three turnovers.

Speake 35, Vina 0: The Bobcats won their fourth straight game by shutting out Vina.

Dez Polk paced Speake (5-1) with 151 rushing yards on 13 carries. He scored three touchdowns.

Polk got Speake started with a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown.

He later added scoring runs of 10 and 53 yards.

Tyler Gillespie and Zach Taylor each ran for a touchdown, and Zack Vick scored on a 2-point run.

Shoals Christian 20, R.A. Hubbard 14: A strong second-half rally fell short for the Chiefs
(2-4), who had the ball at the Shoals 12-yard line when time ran out.

Shoals Christian (3-3) built a 20-0 halftime lead on the strength of Andrew Almon’s two touchdown passes and his one scoring run.

R.A. Hubbard (2-4) scored on a 30-yard run in the third quarter to cut it to 20-6. Garth scored again in the fourth quarter, and Javaris Gholston’s 2-point run sliced the lead to 20-14.
