Elkmont, Clements pull off wins

Elkmont High maintained its hold on third place in Class 3A, Region 8 with a 33-14 win over Sheffield on Friday night.

Brandon Baker paced the Tigers by rushing for 249 yards and all five of their touchdowns.

He scored on runs of 1 and 8 yards in the first quarter as Elkmont (4-4, 4-2 in the region) built a 14-7 lead. He added scoring runs of 1 and 5 yards in the third quarter for a 27-7 lead. Then he added the final points of the night with a 38-yard run.

Clements 43, Lexington 0: Clements took advantage of four Lexington turnovers to stay in the hunt for a playoff berth by blanking the Golden Bears.

The Colts (3-5, 3-3 in 3A, Region 8) are tied for fourth place with Lauderdale County with one region game to play, but Clements holds the tiebreaker after beating the Tigers in overtime last week.

Jamison Bridges and Codey Rose both scored on 1-yard runs in the first quarter to give the Colts a 16-0 lead. Rose added a 38-yard scoring run down the right side early in the second quarter to extend the lead to 22-0.

Michael Moss added a 42-yard scoring tun to put the Colts up 30-0 at halftime.

Clements added a 2-yard scoring run by Moss and a 3-yard run by Brandon Sanderfer in the second half to make the final 43-0.

Lauderdale County 17, West Limestone 8: After falling behind 14-0 in the opening period, West Limestone couldn't catch up.

Joseph Patterson gave Lauderdale County (3-5, 3-3 in 3A, Region 8) the early lead with a touchdown run and a scoring pass.

West Limestone (4-4, 2-4) scored in the third period when Palmer Askew rushed 2 yards for a touchdown. Jeremy White caught a 2-point pass from Tommy Reyer for a 14-8 lead.

However, Lauderdale County (3-5, 3-3) didn't allow any more points.

Good Hope 40, Danville 14: Levi George scored a pair of touchdowns for Danville but it wasn't enough in a road loss to Good Hope, which is leading 3A, Region 8.

George rushed 21 times for 175 yards and scored on runs of 76 and 26 yards.

Good Hope (6-2, 6-0 in the region) got four touchdowns from Tony Myrex.
